Happy birthday to the Anticraft

Last night we threw a party at ReBelle for the Anticraft to celebrate it's first birthday. There was crafting, bad poetry, prizes and this amazing cake.
This anatomical heart cake was created by the fabulous Rellyn and it took her three days and around $100 to make. Not only did it look amazing, but it tasted delicious. Did I mention that the entire cake, with the exception of the ribs, was vegan? Raellyn wanted to make sure that everyone could enjoy the cake so she researched the perfect vegan red velvet cake recipe and even made test runs with cupcakes to make sure that the vegan cake could stand up to the bloody process. When the cake was finally cut, it bled.
Inside the cake was a syrupy strawberry mixture that poured out once Renee and Zabet took the meat cleaver to the cake. It was the coolest thing I've ever seen.

Wow, that has got to be the most amazing vegan cake I have -ever- seen. And I'm assuming that the ribs are... meringue, which is why they aren't vegan?

Still, very cool. Happy birthday to AntiCraft!

Actually the ribs were white chocolate so they contained some dairy.
