I arrived in Lexington yesterday afternoon after a really quick drive and a really expensive speeding ticket. I couldn't find my camera until late last night so the pictures will have to wait until I return from New Mexico. We are leaving in a few hours for the airport, but since I was awake I decided to at least write a hello entry. The apartment isn't exactly as unpacked as I hoped it would be, all of the paintings are still in boxes and all of my crafting supplies are still packed away. Thanks to the new backyard Astrid now has dreadlocks and fleas so we had to do a major haircut and flea treatment. I got this recipe from my boss and it is a great way to naturally prevent fleas on cats and dogs.
Natural Flea Repellent
To 1 cup of water add 5 drops each of tea tree, citronella, peppermint, rosemary, and eucalyptus essential oils. Put the mixture in a spray bottle and lightly spritz the animal every couple of days.

hey this is weird -- i commented here yesterday. i think i said something about how i was sorry that you had fleas and that it wasn't completely unpacked, but that it still must be great to be there. um, i asked about what you were knitting and wanting to see... oh, and also, do you know a good source for cool sewing patterns?
I can't sew from patterns, all my sewing is freestyle. I usually get my inspiration from things I see in magazines and around me. I've seen some really cool vintage patterns at rummage sales and thrift stores, but since I suck at following them I just look at the pictures.
Currently I am knitting some legwarmers so that I can wear skirts in the winter. Yesterday I bought the yarn and needles for the hurry up spring armwarmers which I want to start as soon as my legwarmers are complete.
Funny, legwarmers are all I want to knit right now. Did you check out the flower bud ones I'm making? I'm not too far away from finishing the second one (mostly vegging out and watching movies made that happen), and I'm hoping to be wearing them by Tuesday (if not sooner) when I go to Philadelphia for the day. It's certainly cold enough for them!
I'd love to freestyle sew, though I'm not sure I know enough about how garments are constructed. Much study needed. More pants to hem in the meantime.
I just bought a book at the thrift sstore on freestyle clothing design. I won't be able to really read it until the Spring since I have decorating nd a thousnd projects ahead of it, would you like to borrow it for awhile?
Those legwarmers are beautiful, are you going to post the pattern when you are finished?
Yes, I'd _love_ to borrow that book! Do you have my address?? Thanks about the legwarmers. I didn't think about posting the pattern, but it wouldn't be hard since I retyped it so I could bring it with me when I worked anyway. I'll do that now...
